Photographers help us represent the beautiful hearts and souls of our children to the community, in hopes of finding them their forever home. As a volunteer photographer, you can help us by scheduling photo shoots with our foster families to take photos of new children entering our gallery or taking updated photos of kids who have been on our site for more than a year. If you cannot travel to individual homes, not to worry! We also have special event days for our children where we take photos of the kids in group settings at parks and other fun experiences and outings.

To spread the heart and vision of our agency, we would love to find videographers willing to lend their expertise in the creation of adoption awareness videos, Heart Gallery mission videos, and videos of our children if needed to supplement our incredible partnership with Forever Family. We may also be branching into audio-based stories for children who are tentative about being in front of a camera and/or showing their face.

As we work to find new and innovative ways to represent our children, we are now looking for artist partners who would be willing to create unique portraits of our children. Some kids are nervous about having their photo out there, but that doesn’t mean they do not want to be represented in some way! Artwork is also a great gift we can give to these kids as they learn to look at themselves in a new light.  

The Heart Gallery of Broward is going to start holding bi-annual group photo sessions with our children, and we would like to make the experience a fun day of beauty and empowerment! So why not have makeup artists and hair stylists to help them feel their best as they have their photos taken? These photos will be used to help them find their forever home while also building their sense of self-worth and self-love. 

Additionally, we will be looking at starting a back-to-school haircut day! As such hair stylists will be invited to come out in August for a big event where children will be able to come to get new haircuts and school supplies. 

We especially need black professionals, as we aim to provide children with styles that bring out their best inside and out.

The Heart Gallery of Broward has two main fundraising events that require volunteers. Our first is our Air and Sea Show event where we need volunteers in shifts to collect parking fees at the Galleria Mall where 100% of the parking fees is donated to the Heart Gallery of Broward.

We also host our annual Eat Your Heart Out event which requires volunteers to help with setup the day before the event and the day of the event. As well as volunteers during the event to help with raffle sales, silent auction, and check-in.

Small fundraising events will also randomly present opportunities throughout the year and we may need to call on volunteers for support.

Every November on the Saturday before Thanksgiving week the Heart Gallery of Broward collaborates with many other local organizations to produce National Adoption Day. On this day, families in Broward will come together to finalize their adoptions at the Broward County Courthouse and celebrate with their friends and family and other families finalizing that day. We need volunteers to help with setup the day before and running the event during the day from working food or game booths, to setup/cleanup.

Today, there are many children in the system that have no access to a Guardian ad Litem volunteer. Until every child has a voice, the Guardian ad Litem Office will not rest.

Our Mission is “Advocating for the child’s best interest is our only interest!”

A Guardian ad Litem is a volunteer appointed by the court to protect the rights and advocate the best interests of a child involved in a court proceeding. The volunteer Guardian ad Litem makes independent recommendations to the court by focusing on the needs of each child. The Guardian ad Litem advocates for the best interests of the child they represent.
